Barbapapa Family – Large-Scale 3D Printed Character Installation

The Barbapapa Family project presents the complete production workflow of large-scale 3D printed character sculptures — from raw GDP printed segments to fully finished, glossy painted figures, and final installation in a landscaped amusement park setting.

The raw printed version highlights the scale of the objects, the surface texture, the construction process, and the preparation phase before finishing. Each character was digitally modeled, sliced into printable segments, and produced on the Massivit 1800 Pro using Gel Dispensing Printing technology. The raw prints were then bonded, sanded and prepared for painting.

The painted version shows the transformation into glossy, colorful characters with detailed facial features, accessories, and a strong visual identity. The finishing process involved multiple stages of professional primer, base coat and clear coat to achieve a durable, smooth glossy surface suitable for outdoor conditions. Every character received its iconic color with precision — from Barbapapa’s signature pink to the unique identity of each child in the family.

The final installation places the family in a playful flowerbed, creating an immersive, photogenic, and family-friendly attraction. Produced with Massivit GDP technology, this project demonstrates Futura3D’s ability to manufacture large-scale mascots, cartoon-style sculptures, scenic objects, and immersive themed installations with high visual impact.
