Giant Nutcracker – From 3D Scan to Finished Sculpture

Some objects never really leave our childhood. We simply remember them smaller.

This project began with the 3D scanning of a traditional toy soldier, preserving the proportions, character and ornamental details of the original piece.

The digital model was then prepared and scaled for large-format production before being printed using Massivit GDP technology. Once assembled, the raw printed surface went through several stages of filling, sanding and surface preparation to create a smooth base suitable for professional finishing.

The final sculpture was carefully painted in deep red, dark blue and metallic gold, bringing back the familiar character of the original toy at an entirely different scale.

There is something inherently nostalgic about a nutcracker soldier: an object associated with childhood, Christmas displays and traditional shop windows. Enlarging it transforms that familiar memory into an immersive decorative piece while preserving the personality and craftsmanship of the original.
